Go Exchange Process

How does it look like? What do I need to do before I GO EXCHANGE? Stop hesitating! Read the description of the process below and see that the exchange experience is only few steps ahead!

Selection

The selection process aims to ensure that everyone participating in an AIESEC exchange program has suitable expectations, attitude and competencies, so the internship experience abroad could be life-changing! The selection process for all Go Exchange candidates consists of two stages: an application form and an exchange participant review board (EPRB). Click here to fill in the application now!


Preparation

The preparation period will start straight after the selection process. We will provide you with resources and trainings in three areas:

- Understanding AIESEC: What is the essence of AIESEC, the biggest world youth run organization, what is the role of exchange program in the change that we want to see in the world.

- Logistical preparation: Ensuring that you are physically and legally prepared to work in another country, which includes visa application.

- Professional and cultural preparation: Preparation on how to live and work in the destination country and how to manage the culture shock.

The preparation step is critically important to ensure that you are ready to make the most out of your experience in a personal and professional sense.


Matching

At the same time as preparation you will be going through a matching process, when an exchange manager from AIESEC will be supporting you in looking for an internship in our global exchange database. It may take 3 to 5 months to find a suitable internship for you, depending on what kind of internship you are looking for and what are your destination preferences.


Go Exchange

Yay! You are on your way to a whole new journey in life! Upon arriving at your destination, AIESEC members in the host country will provide you with reception activities like picking you up at the airport, arranging accommodation, welcome party. You will be also provided with opportunities for cultural and social activities as well as an information on what to expect during your internship experience and what kind of involvement you can have with AIESEC and the local environment, while you are on your exchange experience in a new country.


Re-Integration

Wow, welcome home hero! Lost track of what happened in Malaysia? No worries!

AIESEC supports you in making the readjustment process when you return home. We hope that your experience opens up a world of opportunities to create a better society for us all. Apart from that, now that you have lived the an exchange journey, It will be awesome to join and continue AIESEC by taking up leadership positions in the local committees!

There is a candidate guide for all applicants regarding the Job Descriptions of each EB position and also the election process.

History of AIESEC in USM

HISTORY OF AIESEC IN USM

AIESEC in Universiti Sains Malaysia was officially set up in 1986. AIESEC in USM has grown in leaps and bounds to become one of the leading student organization in the varsity as well as becoming a very active Local Committee in Malaysia, helping in facilitating AIESEC International Exchange Programme (IXP). We had taken a step back to reorganized, reshuffle, and redirect our resources to achieve the target of being an exchange-based organization and raising hundreds of achieve the target of being an exchange-based organization and raising international traineeship exchanges every year. Looking back, we stand tall and proud of our achievements although we always face numerous challenges.

Teach a Language

Education is a solution to virtually all problems! Play your part in education for the betterment of tomorrow. Be empowered in drafting and delivering learning syllabus for educational institutions and universities or teach your favourite languages like English, Chinese, Spanish and many others! Share your knowledge abroad be warned to be overwhelmed by the rich and intense experience along your Go Exchange! journey.

We’ll provide you with food and accommodation, or allowance enough to cover all those expenses. You have nothing to lose and an entire world to gain!

Duration of the education internships is 6-12 months, depending on the destination country. Usually you stay in a school for one or two semesters.

Countries with available education internships as for November 2009: China, India, Taiwan, Ukraine, Turkey, Poland, Russia, Romania.

Information Technology

What is the greatest blessing for a tech lover if not the opportunity to handle and solve highly challenging technical assignments? Find yourself an invaluable 1 to 1.5 year technical internship and go abroad to work on it through AIESEC. A life-changing experience like you’d never imagine before, propelling you further in your career as a globally connected IT professional.

The allowance will depend on cost of living in the destination country and will be enough to cover at least basic expenses like food and accommodation. You have nothing to lose and an entire world to gain!

Explore Europe

Dream big and want to start afar? Look no further! Explore Europe! Is an international internship programme which gives you an opportunity to go to one of the European countries and make a difference!

Btw: Did you know that the capital of Hungary, Budapest had the first underground railway network in Europe?


Volunteering for a better world

Go to countries at the other end of the world such as Poland, Russia, Ukraine and Turkey. Take the opportunity not only to travel Europe but to contribute to social development in this beautiful region - on issues such as HIV/AIDS, social entrepreneurship, cultural understanding, sustainable development, and many more!

Average duration of volunteering services in Europe is 6-8 weeks.

We’ll provide you with accommodation or allowance enough to cover all those expenses. You have nothing to lose and an entire world to gain.

Go India

Potentially the world largest and most diverse cultural melting pot, India is where you can write a journal of eye opening and breath taking exchange experience! Just like its awesomely diverse culture and population, The Go India! Programme encompasses a wide spectrum of internship! You get your choice of working with multinational companies such as TATA Consultancy Services or to contribute various social development programmes! Don’t forget to see the Taj Mahal while supporting the community as a volunteer or an intern in one of the numerous companies.


Volunteer for a better world

Average duration of volunteering services in India is 6-8 weeks.
